Originally a sleepy Muslim fishing village that during high season turns into moderately busy beach town with tourists all over the area. The Tsunami 2004 made some serious impact on the beach and many guest houses and a charming restaurant along the beach was destroyed, while there are still traces of the Tsunami the village has recovered very well. The beach itself is beautiful, but during off season no one seems to take care of it and you can find all sorts of things brought by the sea.

Think about what you wear and respect the locals when you are visiting. Top less sunbathing is absolutely not recommended here and it would be considered extremely offensive by the locals.
