![]() Getting here and around.First of all, to save you a penny I would recommend that you use internet to book your ticket. There are plenty of airlines flying to Thailand and Phuket from all over the world and a good way to keep yourself updated with ticket prices and campaigns is to sign up for the many airlines newsletters. It may be a good idea to create a new email adress for this purpose so your private email don't get filled up with offers and spam. Most airlines fly directly to Bangkok and you will then have to transfer to Phuket. Make sure to book the domestic flight as well. There are 2 airports in Bangkok, Don Muang and the new Suvarnabhumi, Don Muang is now a domestic airport with no international flights. However Suvarnabhumi has both international and domestic flights so you need to make sure which one you are leaving to Phuket from. Allow at least 2 hours for transfer between the airports, 3 hours if it's your first time. Getting between the airports will take you about 40 minutes depending on traffic.
Airlines flying domestic in Thailand: Arrival at Phuket International: 1: Use the service desk at the airport for transportation with a minibus. Although this is a good option, allow 30 minutes for a stop at a local travel agent where they will try to sell you everything from hotel stays to day trips, with that said, you can get good offers if you don’t have everything booked already. This should cost around 200 baht. 2: Taxi, Make sure the taxi driver turn on the meter, it should cost you somewhere between 300-600 baht to get from the airport to any of the main destinations, Patong, Karon, Kata or Surin. |
